Jim Knowles is an American football coach who currently serves as the defensive coordinator for the Oklahoma State Cowboys. He was born on August 13, 1967, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Knowles has an extensive coaching background, having served in various coaching positions at multiple college football programs. He began his coaching career at Cornell University, where he spent 6 seasons as the defensive line coach and defensive coordinator. He then moved on to serve as the linebackers coach at Western Michigan University before landing his first head coaching job at Cornell in 2004.

In 2018, Knowles joined the Oklahoma State Cowboys as their defensive coordinator, where he has been instrumental in improving the team's defensive performance. Under his leadership, the Cowboys' defense has consistently ranked among the top in the Big 12 Conference.
